God's Special Forces

Special Forces operations have been in practice for a long time. Much longer than some of us know.

Amongst other stories in the Bible which speak of such operations, the author of the book of Judges (chapter seven) describes a covert operation carried out by a man named Gideon and another fellow.

The commander of this group is the Lord Himself.

Only select men with extraordinary strengths and abilities serve in Special Operations missions. A U.S. Army informational web page pertinent to Special Forces qualifications describes it like this: "To become part of the Army's Green Berets, you need to be mentally and physically tough, endure difficult training and face challenges head on."

This is how the christian must be. He or she must be mentally and physically tough and face challenges head on, in-Christ. But, there is only one way he or she can get there, and that is to fully commit him or her self to the Lord. We can't be mediocre or not believing nor doubting.

Gideon began this way. In Judges chapter six, he had some serious doubt issues until the Lord displayed to him His awesome might. Later, Gideon totally submitted himself to the Lord and thus became one of the Lord's mighty men of the Bible who glorified the Lord through his actions.

What's preventing you from being a mighty person of God? If you are experiencing doubts or whatever the case may be, begin to take action today by calling on the Holy Spirit to give you strength and power to complete the mission He has called you to complete.

And, be realistic. Not everyone is called to do what Gideon did. You may be disabled and called to pray for our nation or people that are close to you continuously; You may be able bodied and called to go out to share the Gospel with people on the street; You may be a business person called to share the Gospel with a co-worker over lunch.

Whatever the case may be, consider yourself part of the Lord's Special Forces. He will give you extraordinary strength both mentally and physically to complete His work. Sign up today!

"Then he [Gideon] went down with Purah his servant to the outpost of the armed men who were in the camp."
Judges 7:11b
"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."
Ephesians 6:10-11
"For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness."
Romans 12:4-8
