Be Strong. Be Encouraged.

"be strong, therefore, and prove yourself a man. And keep the charge of the Lord your God: to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commandments, His judgments, and His testimonies"

King David encouraged his young son Solomon with the words above. He stated this, and other words of instruction, to Solomon soon after he had declared Solomon as successor to his throne.

Yes, King David was about to pass away after forty years of ruling over Israel, and his son would be taking over. During King David's tenor, though, he went through a lot of tough times but also great times which the Lord had provided for him.

Many of those tough times were caused by foolish decisions he had made. The decisions were based on his own understanding and self wants rather than the Lord's will.

Nonetheless, even though King David missed the mark and fell hard (many times), he still got up and proceeded as a warrior for God. He did not dwell on his foolish mistakes to the point that he became ineffective for God. He asked for forgiveness, from the heart, and then continued on with the mission.

Three things that we can be encouraged by is:

First, if we sin and fall we can ask God for forgiveness via His Son Jesus Christ. But remember, asking for forgiveness isn't just words spoken from the mouth but words spoken from the heart. In other words, true, genuine repentance is required.

Second is that once we are forgiven, then we must get up and get back into action. As a forgiven warrior for Christ, we should not sit around and mope and wonder if God forgave us. The Lord says He is faithful and just to forgive us of all of our sins.

Third, we can then encourage other believers as King David encouraged his son Solomon with the words "be strong, therefore, and prove yourself a man. And keep the charge of the Lord your God: to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commandments, His judgments, and His testimonies".

As a side note, King David was encouraging his son specifically, but the latter words or the words after the statement "prove yourself a man" apply to all men and women who walk in the ways of the Lord.

Brothers and sisters in-Christ are you ready to take action in regards to our Saviour Jesus Christ today? Get up, be strong and be encouraged as the Lord God Almighty is with us. Let's make a difference today.

Blessings,

-Rubén
