Sin Revealed! Positive or Negative?

As a believer/follower of Christ, what do you think follows after the Holy Spirit reveals sin in your life? Do you think it is a positive thing that He revealed it to you or do you think it is a negative thing?

Today I listened to a great message by the late J. Vernon Mcgee. He spoke on Isaiah 6:5 which states "Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts [1]" (Isaiah speaking).

Mcgee triggered a thought within me that opened up my heart (again) to the Lord's awesome goodness toward us. It has to do with His light shining on us so great that the more we give ourselves up to God, the more He reveals to us whether good or bad.

Isaiah said he had seen "the King, the Lord of hosts" and realized he and everyone else were people "of unclean lips".

When one comes into relationship with God many things are revealed to us which reside within us.

I focused on the Lord revealing our negative side or sin. No, not because I'm a negative person, but because it is awesome that the Holy Spirit reveals our sin in our lives to us. (Yes, even as believers we sin.)

So is this positive or negative?

It is a positive thing because, first, it confirms to us that the Holy Spirit is living within us [2] and He is affecting our soul and bringing conviction to our heart.

Second is that His revelation to us of our sin leads us to action. Yes, to get away from it, repent (have a change of mind).

Finally, it brings us to a closer relationship with our Father when we acknowledge to Him that we have sinned and have fallen short and desire His forgiveness.

Off the top of your head, what do you think about this? Then, what does the Bible say about it? For fun, compare both sides then lean to the stronger of the two. Yes, the Word of God.

Stay Strong! Pray, read, apply. No Compromise!

[2] "Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body" 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NLT
