Wisdom and Understanding from God
In the book of Ephesians, Paul the apostle tells the Ephesian believers that he constantly gave thanks for them and always made mention of them in his prayers.
The specifics of his prayer for the believers at Ephesus was that God would give to each one of them wisdom and revelation of Him; that their eyes would be enlightened so that they would know the hope of His calling upon each of them.
Paul’s words provide for us great encouragement to pray for our brothers and sisters in-Christ. And, to know that we can call on God, through Jesus, to provide for us wisdom and knowledge of what He wants of us.
What a mind boggling thought that the creator of the universe would want us to know all about Him, and that He is the one who will provide great wisdom to the believer.
Some of us may think that our brains are too far gone to obtain and comprehend this great wisdom and understanding of God, but that’s not the case. If we truly have full, non-compromising faith and trust in Jesus, He will make our brains (and heart) to understand. Remember, that’s not too hard of a task for God, after all, He did create the earth and all that is in it ; ).
So how do we obtain this wisdom and knowledge?
First thing is to fear the Lord. I know what you’re thinking, but I’m not saying to be afraid of God. I’m saying to pay total respect to God as a child would to his father. That means listen to Dad and acknowledge that He has a plan for you.
Secondly is to stay in daily fellowship with Him by praying and reading His Word. Amongst many ways to do this, the easiest and most effective way is to simply pray or speak directly to Him, and read His Word that He may speak directly to you.
In a nutshell, that’s the way to get closer to God. Of course, we can try other complicated ways, but God has made it so easy for us that there is no excuse as to why we should not know Him well.
J. Vernon Mcgee, a well known California pastor who is now with the Lord, said it well when he said to place the cookies where the children can reach them.
What are you doing today to become more wiser and knowledgeable of Him?
