God's Promises

“Fill your horn with oil, and go; I am sending you to Jesse the Bethlehemite. For I have provided Myself a king among his sons.” 1 Samuel 16:1bThe person that God was speaking to Samuel about was David. David the young shepherd boy, unbeknownst to him, would replace king Saul as king of Israel due to Saul’s disobedience to God.
Within the statement “I have provided Myself a king” was a promise of God to the people of Israel that they would be getting a new king very soon.
Before David became King, he went through many unpleasant situations. These situations were filled with stress and overwhelming discomfort as he fled from king Saul who sought to kill him.
Saul knew David would become king and was very jealous of him so he sought to destroy him; The only issue with Saul’s plan to kill David is that God said David would be king. Do you know what I’m getting at? If God said David was going to be king, then he would be king no matter what.
There is nothing that can deter God’s promises tow…
