Salvation Series: 1 Introduction

Has anyone ever spoken to you about salvation in Christ? Have you ever been at church and the speaker spoke about receiving Christ as Savior? Did you wonder what that meant? Did you grow up going to church all of your life and never really payed attention? You thought it was just something to do on Sundays as a ‘feel good’ thing to do. Have you ever wondered what life is all about? What your purpose is in life? There are many questions one might ask about church, salvation in Christ, and our purpose in life. So many that we can fill an encyclopedia and beyond with them. I will answer some of these questions and will base my answers solely on scripture, and the way the Lord answered my questions after becoming born again. (See, another question. What does ‘born again’ mean?)

When I was growing up, my parents took me to the local Catholic church every Sunday and for special events like Easter and Christmas. My parents also enrolled me in catechism and all the different things that the chu…

Are You Sinless?

“When they sin against You (for there is no one who does not sin), and You become angry with them and deliver them to the enemy, and they take them captive to the land of the enemy, far or near” 1 Kings 8:46King Solomon, after the completion of the temple he had built for the Lord, prayed a prayer of dedication to Him while he stood before the congregation. As I read through the prayer, I noticed that he prayed as if he already knew the outcome of his people.
One instance reads “When they sin against You”, that is, when the people sin against God, and He becomes angry... please forgive them when they come to you with a true repentant heart.
The wisdom that God provided for King Solomon allowed him to know these things and accept them as part of life. And, I’m sure, the things he had witnessed during his father’s administration helped to enforce this acknowledgement of sin as well.
What King Solomon stated back then still applies to the current day believer. Yes, the person who has been s…

"And Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of his father David"... "he [King David] walked before You in truth, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with You"As I read and study through first Kings, I am in awe at how the Lord conjoins both Old and New testaments to bring forth His message of encouragement and guidance to His children.

Both provide us with excellent instruction on how we ought to be and act; what to stay away from and what to focus on. Both intertwine perfectly and neither takes precedence over the other but instead compliment on another.
In chapter three of first kings, the new King of Israel, Solomon, King David's son, is described as one who "loved the Lord" and walked in the "statutes" of his father. And, King Solomon's father is described as one who walked in truth, righteousness and uprightness of heart with God.
