Preserved by God
Oh, love the LORD, all you His saints!
For the LORD preserves the faithful,
And fully repays the proud person.
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart,
All you who hope in the LORD.
Did you know that you are considered a saint if you have come to know Jesus as Lord and Saviour?
Amazing but true. You are a saint. Of course, by the world's standards, this is crazy. Especially, when they see us mess up. That's ok though as we shouldn't go about bragging to everyone that we are saints. This is God's description and title given to us by Him and Him only. It is not a title we give ourselves.
So the Lord tells His saints to "love" Him. (Not by force, but from the heart, truly because we want to.) When we do this, we express our faith and trust in Him. Then, He says He "preserves the faithful".
Preserving us in this sense means He will guard us, watch over us, and keep us. Yes, this is the outcome of faith in God our Father from a true heart, not wavering.
So with confidence, we can "be of good courage" meaning we need not fear anything because He, the creator of this universe, is our protector, our defense. Also, as we devote our love to Him, "He shall strengthen your [/our] heart, All you who hope in the Lord."
In summary, love the Lord and be preserved by Him; stand courageous (in-Him) and your heart will be strengthened. Place all of your hope in Him without wavering.
