Understanding the Fear of the Lord

"Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, And find the knowledge of God"
-Proverbs 2:5 NKJV

To fear the Lord does not mean to be afraid of the Lord. The word fear stands for high respect or reverence. Another definition for fear is, as we normally know it, is to be afraid or terrified of something. The latter is not the case when we are told to fear the Lord.

Earlier in Proverbs 2, it says that if we receive His words, treasure His commands, take them to heart, concentrate on understanding and call on Him for insight then we'll understand the fear of the Lord.

As you apply the aforementioned when reading through His Word: the Bible, you will notice that fear (terror of) as we normally know it actually goes away. And, that fear, is replaced by the other fear or utmost respect towards the Lord.

As you read His Word, you will notice that His love for you is great and He desires that you be blessed with His goodness. Yes, He is the one we want to fear (respect).

If you are not already reading His Word, then begin reading His word today so that you will understand the fear of the Lord. It will change your life.
