President Bashing And Other Stuff

Have you ever harshly criticized the current President of the United States? How about our previous President or the one previous to him? Did you talk bad about him and even announce to the world on social media how bad this person is?

Whether it be through thought or verbally spoken, I think we've all been there and done that. I choose to write about this because I saw a bit of president bashing on a social media site the other day. 'What have we become', I thought.

Later, I was watching a documentary on World War II and saw some clips of people bashing President Roosevelt. 'Hmmm, it's been happening all along', I thought.

I totally believe that it's ok to have an opinion after all the Lord did give us a brain to use. But, sometimes the opinions go a bit to far, I think.

A little disclaimer here: I am not perfect whatsoever nor do I claim to be so I speak to myself in this message as well, so here goes.

As believers and followers of Jesus, we should always adhere to scriptural/spiritual guidance before we say or do anything because the world is watching us. As it's been said, our actions may be the only Bible they read so our actions are critical.

Not only that, we may cause a young believer (or any believer at that) to stumble, and we certainly don't want to do that.

The way to obtain spiritual guidance and steer away from the aforementioned negative actions is to first pray.

Calling on the Lord before we speak is always good. This little tongue of ours which produces sounds and words can cause a lot of damage if not guided by the Lord. Speaking of the tongue, scripture says...

"With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. -James 3:9-10 (NKJV)
Another way to obtain scriptural guidance is to read our Bibles...

"Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." -2 Timothy 2:15 (NKJV)
When we read the Bible, we learn who we should be in Christ. For example, when we read something like...

"Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth." -1 Timothy 2:1-4 (NKJV)
Then we know that rather than bashing those in authority, we should instead pray for them because God our Saviour desires that all be saved.

Indeed, the Bible offers much, much more guidance to the believer so today let's declare a new start. Praying, reading and applying His Word and guidance into our lives.

God bless y'all and Stay Strong!
