TCH Memory Verse of the Week / 2 Feb 2018
This week's memory verse comes to you from the book of James 1:22. It's a call to action and applies to all who are in Christ Jesus.
Following Jesus is a call to action and the Bible is our guide.
As Christians, we are called to do many things. Amongst these things we are to apply what we've read into our daily living.
We are not to simply read the Bible and walk away. We are to read and apply.
James 1:22 informs us "But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves."
We are to live "by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." (-Jesus, Matthew 4:4).
As Jesus was being tempted by satan in the wilderness, Jesus quoted the above passage to him.
Jesus could have easily demolished satan, but He instead provided us with an example for us to live by. (The passage he quoted is from Deuteronomy 8:3 in the Old Testament.)
When the going got tough in that dry land, no food, no water, temptation... Jesus turned straight to His Word without compromise and applied it.
That is exactly what we should do.
We put scripture into the "tablet of our hearts" so that in time of need, when we have nothing, we can recall and apply His Words.
BTW, we can also recall them in times of rejoicing, and we should always. ...thanking Him for His great promises to us.
I've placed a couple of images below so that you can download to your phone and place as your wallpaper for easy viewing of the memory verse throughout the day.
Feel free to use them and share with others.
God bless you brothers and sisters. Stay strong in the Lord. Pray, Read, Apply: No Compromise!
