TCH Memory Verse / Week of 2/9/2018

There is a correlation between Psalm 128:1-2 and Matthew 5:3-12 (the beatitudes).

Psalm 128:1-2 summarizes the beatitudes. It simply states that everyone who fears the Lord is blessed.

Matthew 5:3-12 provides details of the above. It states who the blessed are and the outcome of the blessed.

Since the summary version is shorter, the memory verse of the week is Psalm 128:1-2.

But, because it is shorter doesn't mean that we are limited to only that version. If you are able, memorize the longer version, Matthew 5:3-12 also.

Psalm 128:1-2 (NKJV) 1 Blessed is every one who fears the Lord, Who walks in His ways. 2 When you eat the labor of your hands, You shall be happy, and it shall be well with you.

Matthew 5:3-12 (NKJV) 3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
For they shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
For they shall inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
For they shall obtain mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
