2018 Prayer Table Kickoff
|2018 Prayer Table Kickoff: Jesus Freaks from left to right: Ruben, Justin, Cesar and Mario.|
It has been a couple of years since we've been planning and praying about going out into the streets of San Bernardino and putting up a prayer table.
A couple of months ago or so we finally decided on a date, time and location, and it finally came to fruition this morning at 6am.
We set up on the corner of 5th and "E" streets in San Bernardino.
Justin was the first to arrive to location at about 5:55am and immediately encountered a fellow named Jackson who was walking up 5th street.
Mario was next to arrive and when I arrived about 6:10, both Mario and Justin were in deep conversation with Jackson who said he was a believer in Jesus.
A few minutes later, Cesar arrived and so we all ended up praying for Jackson and thanked him for encouraging us. Jackson had no physical Bible with him, but he has the Word of God hidden in his heart 1. That was very encouraging to us. We should all have the scripture hidden in our hearts so that if we don't have a Bible on hand, we can open up and share as Jackson did.
Throughout the morning we were able to share Jesus, pass out tracts and pray with about thirteen people.
We had a super great time doing the Lord's work, but the highlight of the morning was when a police officer drove into the parking lot, where we were stationed, at a high speed and parked right in front of us.
She rolled down the window of her police car while lowering her radio and told us that she had noticed us when we were setting up earlier but was unable to come by. Then, she asked us what we were up to.
Justin told her that we were there to pray with people and handing out waters to those in need. Then, he asked her if we could pray for her.
We thought she was going to ask us to leave, but to our total surprise she said yes.
Immediately, she jumped out of her vehicle and came over to us. She informed us that she had just received a call so prayer had to be quick.
We all held hands in prayer then Justin asked if she knew Jesus and she answered with a smile and a yes.
As quick as she had come out the car, she got back in and sped away to her call.
The reason why that last event of our prayer table venture stood out to me so strong and brought joy to my heart is because a couple of people, at separate occasions, had told me that they've gone out to do the same thing in San Bernardino and the police have run them out. (Excuse the long sentence.)
When that police officer didn't run us out and actually came out to pray with us, the first thing I thought was only if our Heavenly Father wants us out of there is the only reason that we would be out of there. It's obvious our Heavenly Father wanted us there.
Sisters and brothers in Christ, we are going to be doing this on the last Saturday of each month from 6am to 10am. Please pray for us and those the Lord allows us to minister to.
If you would like to join us, please text Ruben at 909. 499. 9116.
