“Whoever heeds discipline shows the way to life, but whoever ignores correction leads others astray.”My wife and I have recently been speaking with each other regarding the importance of disciplining our children, and we've also spoken about and have noticed the outcome of an undisciplined child.
-Proverbs 10:17 NIV
Most of us have children at different ages. My kids are relatively young and some of you have adult children.
Discipline is not a fun thing to administer on a child, but I have read that discipline instills a sense of security in a child.
My wife and I are relatively new parents considering our oldest child is only eight. At this time we're unable to see the results of our parenting in full, but one thing we try to remember is that we are not raising children, but as its been said "we are all raising adults."
I am thankful that I had discipline and structure in my childhood because it helped me to respect authority, to listen to my boss, and taught me that I have to work hard in order to provide for my family.
Honestly, I think that every man and woman, reading this post, has taught discipline and structure to their kids or are currently doing so. But, if you are not, be encouraged to do so as the Lord has called us to instill discipline in our children. And, don't grow weary in disciplining your children. At the end, they will thank you.
